Default Is it safe for a foreigner to travel to Zamboango, Mindanao, Philippines?

My husband is a U.S. citizen and we wanted to go there to visit my sister, but my Father says it is not safe for a foreigner to go there.Any suggestions or safety tips?We have a small child and don't want to leave anything to chance! ------

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p..._2190.htmltake note that this travel warning is current as of today.my personal suggestion, since you yourself say that you don't want to leave anything to chance, don't visit your sister, let your sister visit you. but that is really up to you, i'm just trying to help. ------

Yes, it is. I wonder why there are so many people warning foreigners not to go to Zamboanga.I have seen many foreigners spilling in and out of hotels, malls, and restaurants in Zamboanga and they evidently enjoy their stay in the city.Cosa tu ta espera? (So what are you waiting for?) Get on the first flight to Zamboanga and bond with your sister.Have a great trip! ------
