There are many awesome dive sites int he Philippines.
Apo Island and Dauin in Dumaguete are great. Apo Reef between Mindoro and Palawan is awesome. Tubbataha Reef in Palawan is awesome, but it has a short-ish season which just ended. Puerto Galera has a lot of good diving to offer as well. If you are in to Wreck diving then Subic Bay would be your destination of choice... Mantarays are comon around Malapascua which is a four hour busride and a banca boat from Cebu... Lots of grrrrreat diving here ![]() |

Apo Island near Dumaguete was even replicated in a oceanium in the States, when I first got to Apo Island and I went snorkeling in the marine sanctuary there I was really amazed and to this day snorkeling and diving there is on the top of my list and I visit the area at least 3-5 times a year...
They charge an environmental fee for divers and snorkelers there, but they do a lot to keep the area clean and well preserved. |

just to add to what everyone else said...In Anilao, Batangas (nearest to Manila), the dive sites aren't that spectacular, it tends to be murky around this time of year. Tubattaha reef is great but because it's a UNESCO protected site, access may be limited. If wreck diving is your thing, you can try Subic. Generally, I'd say the best dive sites are in Palawan...The Philippines has one of the most diverse underwater ecosystems in the world. Once you get here, you can ask other divers to tell you where to go in case you're looking for something in particular...like swimming with Whale Sharks in Donsol.Enjoy the Islands! ------
